Our Halls

With over 300 events and around one million visitors each year, Wiener Stadthalle is Austria’s largest event centre and one of Europe’s top ten arenas.

Variety has a name: Wiener Stadthalle!

Situated in an ideal location, the wide and varied programme of events at the Wiener Stadthalle includes something for audiences of all ages. The list of personalities who have appeared at the venue in the past few decades reads like a who’s who of the worlds of international sport, culture and entertainment. Music legends like Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart, as well as contemporary superstars such as Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga and Linkin Park have all played to full houses here. Every year, the Wiener Stadthalle plays host to Austria’s biggest ATP tennis tournament, the Erste Bank Open, while the stage which opened in Hall F in 2006 has become a popular stopping-off point for touring international musicals such as Dirty Dancing and We Will Rock You. The venue can cater to the needs of a huge range of events: from rock concerts, opera evenings and international TV spectaculars to major sporting events, fairs and conferences – almost anything is possible at the Wiener Stadthalle!

The site comprises six halls which can be individually or jointly let, making this one of Europe’s most firmly established, multipurpose event centres:

Hall D

Austria’s largest event venue was built between 1954 and 1957 based on designs created by world-famous architect Roland Rainer. It opened on 21 June 1958. Hall D, which holds up to 16,000 people, has been the centrepiece of the facility ever since. At 92m in length, 17m high and with flexible stage elements, the hall is unbelievably versatile, with a wide variety of possible set-ups. The roof has an area of 10,000m2 – the largest of any entertainment venue in Austria – while inside, the ceiling can hold some 100 tonnes of technical equipment for cutting-edge, large-scale events. “A UFO has landed in Vienna” was the headline that greeted the opening of Wiener Stadthalle in 1958. Over 55 years later, Roland Rainer’s unique architectural design has stood the test of time and still provides a fitting backdrop for an almost unlimited range of events – from concerts, fairs and sporting events to TV shows and corporate functions.

Hall E

The Wiener Stadthalle complex was extended in 1994 with the completion of Hall E, a 1,800m2 multipurpose facility with direct access to Halls A, B and D.

Hall E is ideally suited to a variety of event formats, including in combination with Hall D. The wide range of events held there each year includes sales exhibitions, antiques fairs, product launches, lectures, meetings, conventions, corporate functions, VIP receptions, after-show parties, weddings, banquets and sports events.

Hall F

Hall F, which features one of the Europe’s most modern stages, was seamlessly integrated into the complex in 2006. With a capacity of up to 2,000 people, Hall F is configured like a large theatre. The banked seating allows for perfect views of the stage, and there is also a fully integrated induction loop system which enables wearers of suitably equipped hearing aids to receive high-quality, interference-free audio signals.

Thanks to a height-adjustable stage, a comprehensive range of technical equipment and a high-quality interior, Hall F is a popular location for concerts, musicals, dance shows, stand-up comedy, small-scale performances, product launches, fashion shows, lectures, meetings, AGMs and even weddings.

This new addition was the work of architects Dietrich|Untertrifaller, who took the Bauherrenpreis (Austrian Builder-Owner Award) – one of Austria’s most coveted architecture prizes – for their design.
