CELEBRATING 30 YEARS TOGETHER
30 years ago Deva Premal and Miten met and set out to inspire people all over the world with their music, their concerts and gatherings, but also their love for each other.
30 years of love, mantras and profound music
To celebrate this anniversary, the two will perform their favourite tracks from their 21 albums on their tour. As well as some standout tracks from their - Grammy 2019 nominated - album DEVA, which also features the Seven Chakra Gayatri Mantra, one of their most famous signature chants.
When Deva Premal & Miten step on stage, something happens that is hard to describe.
"There is a portal that we all go through, musicians and audiences alike," says Miten. "It's created by - and connected to - everyone in the theatre. For us, it's not about entertainment, it's a matter of life and death. When thousands of kindred spirits gather to chant these ancient prayers, magic happens."
Their music, a mixture of sensual spiritual "east-meets-west-music", has already attracted some stars and "world teachers". The Dalai Lama listens to her chants in his private time, while Cher repeatedly presents her interpretation of the Gayatri mantra in her shows.
Meditators and yoga practitioners come to her concerts, along with fans of NewAge, trance, rock, fusion but also Eastern and all kinds of world music, as well as friends of classical music.
"Mantra chanting never fails to uplift the tired spirit, no matter how disconnected we may feel," says Deva. "And it always happens. Every theatre becomes a temple when we gather to share our voices in sacred chant."
