Plastinator Dr. Gunther von Hagens and curator Dr. Angelina Whalley will present their current exhibition at the Wiener Stadthalle for the first time from the 4. October 2019 until the 09. February 2020: „Körperwelten – Eine Herzenssache“!

Around 200 exhibits can be seen in Vienna, including 20 whole-body exhibits as well as partial plastinates, transparent body discs and individual organs.

Körperwelten is an exhibition that lastingly changes our view of ourselves and our way of life. More than 48 million people worldwide have already embarked on this journey of self-discovery. From the skeleton to the interaction of the musculature to the development in the womb, the visitor receives a detailed picture of the structure of his inner life. On the basis fascinating preparations organ functions and frequent illnesses are explained understandably for everyone. 

The thematic focus of this exhibition is the heart with its widely branched vascular system. The high-performance organ of the body is the motor of life, but is exposed to functional disturbances and signs of wear due to permanent stress. Today, diseases of the blood circulation system are the most frequent cause of death. "However, they are avoidable" - Doctor and curator Dr. Angelina Whalley. "We often only pay attention to our heart, this vital organ, when it becomes ill or suffers from great stress. I hope that the exhibition will inspire visitors to live more heart-consciously and healthier."
