In May next year, one of the greatest contemporary composers will celebrate his 80th birthday: Sylvester Levay's musical oeuvre is a milestone in the history of the musical, his melodies have been heard by millions of listeners and his works have enchanted audiences around the world for decades. Reason enough to pay tribute to him in an extraordinary gala concert: 

On May 18, 2025, this very special birthday celebration “MUSICALSTARS SING LEVAY” will take place at the Wiener Stadthalle.

Lukas Perman/PermanProductions has been entrusted by Sylvester Levay to organize a unique gala concert - an evening on which the grandees of the international musical scene will gather to celebrate the maestro in style. They are all united by their love of Sylvester Levay's oeuvre: Annemieke van Dam, Oedo Kuipers, Ana Milva Gomes, Barbara Obermeier, Lukas Perman, Drew Sarich, Mark Seibert, Willemijn Verkaik and Anton Zetterholm are looking forward to performing immortal melodies from ELISABETH - MOZART! - REBECCA and many more. 

The stars will be accompanied by a large symphonic orchestra under the direction of Bernd Steixner and an ensemble/choir with the participation of students from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Live cameras and two video walls ensure that all viewers can be up close to the action on stage. A highly emotional experience is therefore pre-programmed!

To Sylvester Levay:

Sylvester Levay is the most important composer of the German-language musical genre.

He wrote musical theater history with ELISABETH - the most successful German-language musical of all time - which premiered in Vienna in 1992. This was followed by further world premieres in Vienna with the hit musicals MOZART (2001) and REBECCA (2006).

Sylvester Levay's music has become known around the world from Vienna in recent decades. His pieces have been and continue to be celebrated as far away as Asia. MARIE ANTOINETTE and LADY BESS started their success story from Japan. In 2023, a Levay musical - BEETHOVENS'S SECRET - was successfully premiered in Korea for the first time.
