"OVO", Cirque du Soleil's arena show, is a fast-paced, colorful and whimsical kaleidoscope of outstanding artistic perfection. The world of insects, with its tremendous diversity, provides an ironic blueprint for the action on stage, which resembles a nest of acrobatics and comedy. The large, contrasting crawl in dazzling costumes based on natural forms, as well as sets that create habitats of a chaotic and diverse ecosystem, is delightful fun for the whole family. "OVO" comes to Vienna's Stadthalle D for 7 shows February 1-4.
Audiences plunge headlong into a cosmos teeming with life. Loud, turbulent scenes alternate with quiet, soulful moments. A mysterious, large egg puzzles all the actors, performers and clowns with their insect disguises and characters.
"Ovo," which means egg in Portuguese, is a timeless symbol that runs like a thread through the spectacle. Of course, amidst all the crawling and flitting, love is not to be neglected when the formidable ladybug discovers her heart for the feisty, strange fly man. And as always with Cirque du Soleil, "OVO" is also packed with top artistic performances.
